Also on Wednesday, you can check out Hammerkatz with NYU's premier acapella group The N'harmonics!!! Open to all NYU students!

2012 Audition Info

Hammerkatz NYU Wants YOU!

·      Do you love writing and performing sketch comedy?

·      Do you want to meet new people?

·      Do you just love bits???

Then you should audition for Hammerkatz, NYU’s premiere sketch comedy group!

How do I audition? Everyone in Hammerkatz joins as a writer and performer, so to be eligible you must complete both parts of the audition.

Part 1, Performance Audition

Attend one of our Performance Auditions.

·         Thursday, September 6^th at 8:30pm at Kimmel 802

·         Friday, September 7^th at 8:30pm at Kimmel 802

·         Saturday, September 8^th at 2pm at Kimmel 802

Part 2, Writing Sample

Email a writing sample to hammerkatznyu@gmail.com by 9pm on September 8^th! What’s can be in a writing sample? Below are some suggestions. You only need to include one of these examples, but include more if you think that will better represent you as a writer and what you think is funny. 

·         Sketches! One or a few, 1-5 pages each.

·         A short/funny play or script! No more than 7 pages.

·         A list of ideas for sketches!

Other things you should know about Auditions:

·         Performance auditions can take a while so be prepared to stay a couple of hours. Aka bring a book or sweet convo skills.

·         We provide you with scripts at our performance auditions, which you will perform in groups. No preparation necessary and no memorization required!

·         Don’t sweat having a super fancy or extensive writing sample, we just want to see what you think is funny!

HAMMERKATZ IS LOOKING FOR NEW RECRUITS!

If you are interested in being part of the sketch comedy army, send a sample sketch* to hammerkatznyu@gmail.com before September 10th, and then come to one of our performance auditions which will be held September on Thursday the 8th 7-11 PM, Friday the 9th 6:30-11:30 PM, and Saturday the 10th 2-6:30 PM! We can't wait to meet you!

*If you've never written a sketch before, then send us a funny scene or short script or even just some ideas for sketches- we just wanna see how you write and what your sense of humor is!

Skirball Summer Countdown and more

Hey! You!

We will be performing THIS SUNDAY NIGHT at the Skirball Center at NYU!

What: Skirball Summer Countdown featuring Axis of Awesome, Drink Up Buttercup, and Hammerkatz (Us!)

When: This Sunday, April 10th at 8pm!

Where: Skirball Center

566 Laguardia Place (at Wash. Sq. South)

$15 in advance, $18 day of the show.

This is going to be an awesome show with two other awesome groups in an awesome space. It should be fun.

BACKYARD BRAWL this Friday! And more!

We will be defending our title THIS FRIDAY night at UCB's monthly sketch competition, Backyard Brawl!

WHEN: This Friday, March 25th at MIDNIGHT

WHERE: Upright Citizens Brigade Theater

(307 W. 26th st, near 8th ave)

$5, cheap beer.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out to support us last month. We love you all. This week we will be going head to head with ATOMIC AGE and we want you to be there again!

This is a competition based on audience votes, so it would mean a lot to us if you came out. It's going to be a showdown of epic proportions and a night of sketch comedy you won't want to miss.
